Nutrition

IMIFAP includes nutrition as a basic component in many programs, such as diabetes and school performance, and also has specific programs devoted entirely to the topic. Poor nutrition—a pervasive problem in marginalized areas—is also the most easily ameliorated. With a basic program that explains nutritional principles, IMIFAP provides the foundation for a healthier community capable of addressing more expansive challenges. Upon completion of the course, participants demonstrate an improved understanding of nutritional concepts and are able to apply them in their daily lives, reporting increased consumption of vegetables and fruits as well as a lower intake of fatty foods and soft drinks.
